Description + Feelings

In the morning session we went over a presentation on how to write a project proposal. I was quite confused at first since I am not the best with writing but after Dom talked it through and went over the questions and giving us examples of what we should answer I felt more confident.
In the afternoon session we started creating our divergent thinking maps. I really enjoyed this because it not only allowed me to generate more research but also create a better understanding of my project. Whilst researching the Gisaeng women I collected a lot of interesting themes that I could work with and I thought of the aim of my project which was to bring light and attention to these women because they were disregarded and belittled as they were only remembered for being courtesans/prostitutes. I want to show that there is so much more depth to these women such as the immense period of training they had to undertake and how they are actually intellectual and multi talented individuals.
After creating the divergent thinking map we started finding 50 research images we could use to help with our project.

Analysis + Evaluation

I think I feel quite confident within writing my project proposal as Dom carefully and meticulously guided us through what we should or should not write. If I had to write it with no guidance I would have been quite lost and not knowing where to start. I am glad I had time to think about what my project was going to be before we started the project proposal.
Also I am confident and feeling secure with the direction my project is going since I already have many ideas that I could present in my sketchbook. I am also happy that Dom talked to me and gave me advice on what to look at specifically such as the hierarchy of gisaeng women within the society and the power dynamic.

Conclusion

In conclusion I think I am heading off to a stable start as I have narrowed down my project to some clear points and am excited to start working in my sketchbook again since it has been a long time due to portfolios.
After researching this topic I know where I am heading and have done some additional research to make sure I get a full understanding. One thing I am going to do is watch a Korean film based on the life of Hwang Jin Yi, a notable gisaeng within Korean culture.
